Dear Expectant Parents-
We are Ruben and Diana, a married couple full of
fun, love, and laughter living in
Oregon. We have
been together for over 18 years and have been
married for ten years. We write this
letter with hopes of giving you a better
understanding of who we are and the kind of
nurturing, caring, and secure environment we
would provide, given the opportunity to parent
your child. We would like to thank you for
considering us as prospective parents and let
you know that we admire your courage and
strength in determining what is best for your
child.
We met and fell in love while attending the
University
of California
at Irvine. After attending undergraduate
school, we both attended graduate programs in
Northern California. Ruben
received his medical degree after four years of
medical school in San
Francisco and began practicing
medicine at an office in
Southern California. Diana
earned her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology in
2000 and worked as a Licensed Psychologist with
children and adolescents at an agency in Los Angeles.
We have always known that we would one day be
parents together. After a few years of
living in California, we decided that we would like to start a
family and discovered, with much thought and
discussion, the best place for us to do that was
in
Oregon. After
several unsuccessful attempts to conceive both
naturally and through in-vitro fertilization, it
became clear to us that we wanted to build our
family through adoption. In May of 2009,
we were blessed with the adoption of our little
girl Alyssa. She is an absolute joy and we
are hoping to enrich our family even more by
giving her a sibling through adoption.
Ruben works at his medical practice while Diana
is able to enjoy motherhood caring for Alyssa
and hopefully soon another child.
We live in a quiet family-friendly neighborhood.
Our four-bedroom home is located at the end of a
cul-de-sac, very quiet with hardly any traffic.
We also have a good-sized, fully fenced backyard
that’s great for children to run around and play
in. We have great schools in our area.
The elementary school is walking distance from
our house and the local high school is
relatively new. We also have several parks
nearby that we frequent when the weather allows.
We are both very fortunate to have wonderful,
caring and supportive friends and family. Our
friends and families are very special and
important to us. Ruben has two older
sisters, six nieces and one nephew and Diana has
a younger sister. Our parents and siblings
live in different parts of the country, from
California to Texas to New York to Florida. However,
we are lucky to be able to spend time with both
sides of our families several times a year even
while living in these different states. We
all make special efforts to see each other,
whether they come to us or we go to them.
Both sides of our families have even taken
vacations together. They have all been
very supportive throughout our journey in
becoming parents and are very excited with our
additional adoption plans. They can’t wait to
welcome their new grandchild, niece/nephew, or
cousin into the family.
We, too, are enthusiastic about expanding our
family through adoption once again. We
will provide the same unconditional love and
support we have been blessed with. Our
hope is to help her/him grow into a confident,
trusting and loving person. We will provide
opportunities for him/her to try new things and
discover his/her own talents. Our children will
be raised to respect themselves, others, and the
world they live in. We value education greatly
and will provide the best possible education,
including the opportunity to go to college.
Throughout our years together, we have laughed
and we have cried together. We have shared
some many great times and have struggled through
some difficult times. We have also made
sacrifices for each other in the name of love,
family and our future. Throughout our
growth and journey together, one thing has
always been clear to us and that is our undying
love for, admiration of, and dedication to one
another. We enjoy parenting our little
girl and are ready and excited to expand our
family and share these experiences, as well as
make new ones, with an additional child in our
lives. We know that we will continue to be able
to provide a stable-happy home full of warmth,
love and laughter.
We appreciate your time in reading about us and
our life together. We welcome an open
adoption through exchanging pictures and letters
and yearly visits. However, we will respect the
level of openness you are comfortable with.
If we are entrusted with the adoption of your
baby, please know that you will always be
respected and honored. We realize that
this is a very difficult decision that can only
be made out of love and wish you the best,
whatever your decision may be.
